I love that shrimp have become the unofficial EA mascot.
It encapsulates one of the foundational aspects of EA: a person's a person, no matter how different. You can be from a far off country. You can be an ugly-looking water-bug. You can be an AI. As long as you're capable of suffering or happiness, you count. You matter. (Conditional on probability of sentience times amount of impact you'd have if they're sentient, of course ;) ) Even if society at large doesn't recognize it. Even if you're considered strange to care about it. What matters is that there's unnecessary suffering, and that you DO something about it. I love that about EA. And it's perfectly encapsulated in our mascot, the shrimp. Also - points for anybody who does a re-mix of Horton Hears a Who, the EA version. I feel like there's so many parallels there too. (Horton Hears a Suffering Sub-routine? Horton Hears a Suffering Antarctic Krill?)
